The three main types of bandsaw blades are:

  1. Carbon Steel Blades: These blades are economical and suitable for cutting soft woods, plastics, and non-ferrous metals. They are not ideal for cutting hard or abrasive materials as they tend to wear out faster compared to other blade types.
  2. Bi-Metal Blades: These blades are made by welding together two different types of metal – a high-speed steel tooth edge and a flexible spring steel back. Bi-metal blades are versatile and can handle a wider range of materials, including both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as wood and plastics. They offer a good balance between cutting performance and durability.
  3. Carbide-Tipped Blades: These blades are designed for heavy-duty cutting applications and are equipped with carbide teeth, which are extremely hard and can maintain their sharpness even when cutting through tough materials like hardened steels, alloys, and exotic metals. Carbide-tipped blades are known for their exceptional longevity and performance, but they are also more expensive than other blade types.

The choice of bandsaw blade type depends on the specific materials you plan to cut and the level of precision and durability required for your application.
